Marching Soldiers

2010
08.12

I may be keeping quiet by not posting alot lately, but doesn’t mean I got alot of works not posted yet~ hehehe

Here is a marching soldier I design and I kind of like the combination I did. This version would not be limited edition but until my supplies last because I don’t see anymore this fabric…

  • I use both Japanese fabric on the outside and the inside.. I know it might cost more but isn’t the final result worth it?
  • I have lined the inner checkered fabric with this thick forming fabric (literal translation from Chinese material name) which allows my works to “stand” and when I photo this, I did not put any stuff inside to let it stand… I did however have a hard time turning it but the result is great~
  • I even include a checkered wristlet style so that you can hang it anywhere you want or use the clip and attached to your bag…

Waist bag

This is a bag sample I made for my teacher last time.. I forgot what is that little girl’s name but she have a cute kitten with her~ The outline is hand sew and it have a small base. There two loops on both sides so that you can clip it to your jeans…

Postal Pouch

I purchase a wonderful Japanese fabric and just so crazy about postal stamps and postage.. Hope you enjoy this combination

Great to put your make-up and long enough to fit mascara and lipstick!!! I use mostly pink because I want it to be girly for a change~

My pretty Betta fish: Bleu~

It’s really hard to photo him so I was lucky to get some good shots of him.. Isn’t he pretty? His been sick for some time and I hope he will get better… Well, I didn’t change his water often enough because since I keep adding new water, I presume it was enough.. Guess not.. sorry Bleu :( Get well please.. eat soon…

He like to hide here always~ ha yahhhh…

Cotton Life vol 2

2010
07.22

The magazine was out for like 2 months and just have the time now to update! sorry~

Well, I’ll photo some part of the magazine where I was featured or assisted..I was asked by my teacher ( Dream Bunny) if I would assist her on this magazine.

She teach patchwork and answer most commonly ask questions students have about patchwork. I concentrate on the modern style such as bags or pouches instead of trying to sew all those tiny pieces of fabric together! Gosh, I don’t think I got that much patience hehee…

I’m so proud of my shoulder ballerina bag. It took me a long time to put it all together because we have to consider the image and where to cut or connect the other side of the fabric. But the outcome is great!

The bag which was featured on the magazine will be posted to etsy soon. You can email me at ming@ourblueiguana.com if interested to purchase.

Our Blue Iguana feature in Magazine

I was so excited 2 weeks ago my teacher ( Patchwork) asked me if I would lend her my Ballerina bag which I made. She was asked to do a write up for a new magazine called ” Cotton Life” and would like to feature my bag as part of her article. Of course I would be honor!

In preparation for the magazine, I was able to assist her in making 3 sets of simple bags. It took us all afternoon because I have to sew it all up and since it’s for the magazine and all, it should be perfect. Aside from that, things that I give to people or sell, it should be perfect.. hmm… I’m such a perfectionist actually :p It should be all sewn properly. It’s a good thing I have alot of practice on my sewing machine and it look great! I can’t help but say so myself. Once the article is out, I will post it here again…I’m so excited!!!…

I will however share with you instead the photos during my making of the ballerina girl bag… photo’s coming soon~ sorry… camera in office so can’t upload :P

Enjoy~

This is the ballerina bag ..

Miyuki

2010
03.24

This is my first try at antique Bear… the pattern is from”hugmebear” and I love her hand dyed fabrics.

Miyuki is one of my favorite names because I feel I can relate to Miyuki from the anime series “You’re Under Arrest”. Of course I wish I got her figure! hehehe… and that cool bike!

I added the rose made by Vivianne. I choose the color red because that is “caddie” favorite color~ I am constantly reminded of him…

The color is abit off in this image, but I want to brag about the little tote bag! Isn’t it adorable?! hahaha I made this smaller version before my own! It was more fun and my teacher can’t stop telling her other students about my “beary tote bag”.

Bon Voyage mon amour~

iPhone pouch

2010
01.11

My phone been begging me for a cover for so long and I have been searching for a pouch that shout “ming”…. But so far, I haven’t found it yet… and thought why not start the new year 2010 with a pouch to pass the time =p

While waiting for the count down, I was busy sewing my design and concept.. It isn’t how I envision the celebration but this year, I will spend it with someone!!! Hmm maybe about time I get a puppy~ =D hahaha

So here is my phone…

Don’t you just love the gingerbread man? His my favorite and he reminds me of the gingerbread man in Shrek… Such a funny guy~

I can charge my phone even with this soft case on… And since it’s soft, I can easily remove it… the little fellow (gingerbread man) get’s stuck in the gap at time hehehe … too much sugar? =D

My first try in embroidery some design, so it’s not my best work….

Laptop Sleeve

2010
01.02

This was something I finished after Christmas. I want to have a sleeve for my laptop so that I can just put it inside any bag without scratching it. My Samsonite Laptop bag not only I love the design, but it’s also practical. But one low down is that it’s abit heavy even without my computer.

This computer I have have been with me for almost 3 years and the battery is really weak. So this would mean that I would need to bring around the charger all the time, thus, the weight. So I finally decide to make some simple changes such as basic small pouch that I would be carry when I bring my computer around. I always travel light…

Here is my work….

What does this look like? I combines 2 red suede at the side..

First time designing it, good thing it fit exactly :P

Because during sewing, the fabric wasn’t all that straight.. And knowing me, I want all the dimension to be exact, so with that, the allowance were cut off :P   During cutting,I mistaken some measurement and over cut some fabrics lol… But it’s always a learning experience.

This is design by me..

I never thought of designing small stuff but I really enjoy it..

Hope you guys like it too? =)

Now… a bear to complete this hehehe :)

dsc000092
