Cotton Life vol 2

2010
07.22

The magazine was out for like 2 months and just have the time now to update! sorry~

Well, I’ll photo some part of the magazine where I was featured or assisted..I was asked by my teacher ( Dream Bunny) if I would assist her on this magazine.

She teach patchwork and answer most commonly ask questions students have about patchwork. I concentrate on the modern style such as bags or pouches instead of trying to sew all those tiny pieces of fabric together! Gosh, I don’t think I got that much patience hehee…

I’m so proud of my shoulder ballerina bag. It took me a long time to put it all together because we have to consider the image and where to cut or connect the other side of the fabric. But the outcome is great!

The bag which was featured on the magazine will be posted to etsy soon. You can email me at ming@ourblueiguana.com if interested to purchase.

iPhone pouch

My phone been begging me for a cover for so long and I have been searching for a pouch that shout “ming”…. But so far, I haven’t found it yet… and thought why not start the new year 2010 with a pouch to pass the time =p

While waiting for the count down, I was busy sewing my design and concept.. It isn’t how I envision the celebration but this year, I will spend it with someone!!! Hmm maybe about time I get a puppy~ =D hahaha

So here is my phone…

Don’t you just love the gingerbread man? His my favorite and he reminds me of the gingerbread man in Shrek… Such a funny guy~

I can charge my phone even with this soft case on… And since it’s soft, I can easily remove it… the little fellow (gingerbread man) get’s stuck in the gap at time hehehe … too much sugar? =D

My first try in embroidery some design, so it’s not my best work….

Laptop Sleeve

This was something I finished after Christmas. I want to have a sleeve for my laptop so that I can just put it inside any bag without scratching it. My Samsonite Laptop bag not only I love the design, but it’s also practical. But one low down is that it’s abit heavy even without my computer.

This computer I have have been with me for almost 3 years and the battery is really weak. So this would mean that I would need to bring around the charger all the time, thus, the weight. So I finally decide to make some simple changes such as basic small pouch that I would be carry when I bring my computer around. I always travel light…

Here is my work….

What does this look like? I combines 2 red suede at the side..

First time designing it, good thing it fit exactly :P

Because during sewing, the fabric wasn’t all that straight.. And knowing me, I want all the dimension to be exact, so with that, the allowance were cut off :P   During cutting,I mistaken some measurement and over cut some fabrics lol… But it’s always a learning experience.

This is design by me..

I never thought of designing small stuff but I really enjoy it..

Hope you guys like it too? =)

Now… a bear to complete this hehehe :)

I finish the baby shoes and have add some designs into it…

Here is my little shoe with my tiny iron.. that small triangular thing is an iron! hehehe isn’t it sooo cute? Well, I need to iron the fabric so that it will flattened nicely…dsc010712

This is my finished product… (Wendy is in the background)

This is the close up shot of my ” Our Blue Iguana” which I have embrodered.. It was easier the second time because I did this as well on Wendy’s hat.. Could you believe that I did it freehand? NO pencil or anything to mark it first before I saw it! Im very happy with what I did…. Did you notice the “G” in Iguana? cool?! =D

Here are more shots:

Another reason to be happy? I have this box where I put my pending projects when  I was cleaning up my space. I never realized that the anime bear I was working on body was there! I knew I have cut 2 legs and body, but I was able to see one leg… Guess where it was hiding? It was hiding under my Japanese linen fabrics! It was sandwitch between 3 types of fabric so I was not able to find it! Silly me….

Well, Im excited to finish it I hope this weekend…. fingers cross… and did some rough sketch on what I want this bear to look like… this would be my first anime and I realized I have to make so many accessories which would consume lots of time… but it’s ok… I’m sure it wil be worth it..

Baby shoes, pouch & Rosie Belle

I would start my first update with what I finish last night! I was so happy with the result =D

I start this baby shoes project on July 6 night trying to figure out the concept. As you know, im still new in making bags or pouches that are 2 sided so I can’t make head or tail. Are both fabric suppose to be facing each other so that when i turn it around, it would face out or in… hmmm so here is the little step by step process of my baby shoes adventure hehehe I would say it’s kind of cute! I have still to do the finishing tonight and will post it again..

My First baby shoes…

There lots of bugs inside to keep your feet tapping! =p

Last Friday (July 3) I’m half finish this skirt for my new bear… but unfortunately, I lost the body I was sewing so left with the anime head =S Now im making a whole new anime with another mohair because I know I saw the body but cant seem to find it anywhere! I was fixing my house so im not sure if i accidentally throw it! =’(

But Wendy was nice to model it for me…. here is Wendy and the skirt. It need to be fitted to my new bear first so I did not sew it close… but I think the skirt looks pretty cute too… sooo tiny

I purposely use blue thread.. I think it looks nice..

Near the end of June, I started making this “Asin pouch” but I was not able to take the lastest update of it… so far just need to sew 2 lines and im done.  I had to redo it bec the sewing did not look nice and it was wavy! hehe so here it is… i love the fabric! It was expensive too =p

I took the 1st and 2nd step in making this pouch… I was afraid that I might forget so to keep track, I took photos….

Now for the cream on the pie! on the 28th of June, I finally meet my Rosie Belle… of what a lovely and sweet little thing she was… she was simple adorable hehee… sorry, i did not photo her yet, maybe tom or within this week when I plan to photo the rest of my products.
